What does it cost, most of the time?

In 2015 24.4 million kitchens and baths were remodeled or replaced.

In 2015 there were 14.2 million bathroom remodels and replacements. In the US, 21% of households paid $7,500 or more for a master bath remodel. During that same time period 48% of US Households paid $15,000 or more for a complete kitchen renovation.

It would seem with all that data there should be an easy 'average' price. There isn't. Remodels range from minimal change to total luxury upgrades. The scope of changes and the budget per item make cost vary wildly. Flooring, counters, cabinets, and appliances have budget options and luxury models available.

To use the data in the report, start with a list of what you want changed. If your remodel includes appliances, then price comparison shop to know how much of your budget you've spent on that item.  Next, compare what percentage of people in the report paid that and more. Do you fall higher or lower than the 48% that paid $15,000 or more?
